BOUNDLESSThe leash

Journal, No. 01

Your hands were never free. The walk was never just a walk.

On making a leash that gives your hands back, the walk that turns into the whole day, and why there are only 50 of them.

A woman on warm sandstone in morning light, the leash worn across her body, her spoodle beside her
Both hands free. Nothing has been let go of.

A leash is one of the few things you carry every single day and always ask for something in return. One hand. Your attention. A pause while you find your keys, answer a message or carry a coffee.

It is designed as if the walk is twenty minutes, standing still, with a spare hand and nothing else to do. But the walk is rarely twenty minutes.

The walk becomes coffee. Coffee becomes a swim. The swim becomes the rest of the day. And for all of it, one hand is already spoken for.

So we made it hands-free.

The Boundless Leash is a single length of natural bridle leather, vegetable-tanned, with two hand-polished brass buckles. It is worn crossbody, at the waist, or doubled through the buckle at the wrist.

Worn crossbody, a pull travels through your torso rather than your wrist, which is easier on both of you. Nothing swings. Nothing needs to be put down to pay for anything.

Fifty, then it stops.

Everything is cut, stitched and finished by hand in small runs, so the first edition is 50 pieces. Each one is engraved on the brass, 01 through 50.

Numbers are assigned in the order they are taken. You do not pick one, which is the honest version: yours is whichever one is next when you decide. Then it belongs to you and to nobody else.

This edition will not be restocked. There will be another one, and it will be different.
